Andrew’s Story
Spartanburg attorney, Andrew J. Johnston, statrted his education with a Bachelor of Arts in History and German from Emory & Henry University in 1982. He subsequently obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1985. Since then, he has dedicated himself to serving the Spartanburg community and its surrounding areas since 1986.
Throughout his career, Andrew has held several notable positions within the legal field. He has served with Legal Services, where he held the role of Assistant Solicitor (Prosecutor) and Assistant Public Defender. Prior to establishing Johnston Law Firm, LLC in Spartanburg in 1994, he worked with small plaintiff law firms.
Andrew’s extensive experience includes over one hundred jury trials involving homicides and serious felony cases in both state and federal courts. He served as the 7th Circuit Representative to the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (SCACDL), of which he is a founding member. Additionally, Andrew has lectured on Breath Testing at SCACDL’s annual DUI Continuing Legal Education (CLE) meeting.
Andrew has argued appeals before high courts such as the South Carolina Court of Appeals, the South Carolina Supreme Court, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Initially emphasizing criminal defense, Andrew’s practice has expanded to encompass medical malpractice and other serious injury cases, showcasing his dedication to comprehensive client advocacy for all individuals facing legal challenges.
